It depends on how bad her allergies are. If they’re really bad, no cat will be ok. If they’re moderate, it’s said that Rexes and Siberians tend to cause fewer problems. She could also take Claritin or Allegra before she comes to visit to help with her symptoms.

You’ll need to vacuum thoroughly, preferably using one with a hepa filter, and keep the cat out of your roommate’s room so there’s a cat free zone in the house.

I have heard that Siamese are a good breed for people with allergies. Something to look into for sure. Some things you could do if you do get a cat would be:

Don’t get a long haired cat
Feed a high quality food to minimize dander and shedding
Wipe the cat down with a damp cloth every few days
Optimally remove carpeting from the home. If this is not an option then frequent vacuuming with a HEPA vac will help.
Invest in an air filter
Restrict cats from sleeping areas
Brush it a lot to reduce the amount of hair that does get on furniture

Im allergic to cats and for months my boyfriend had to take care of his brothers cat. When someone is allergic they are allergic to the saliva that the cat has when they clean them selves. So don’t think that a hairless cat will work. It wont. Some scientist have bred a cat that is for people with allergies but they are over $4000. So what we did that helped but did not fixed the problem was that the cat was not allowed in the bed room. My bf vacuumed every couple days and used Febreeze allergy killer. It helped but in the end I was still sick most of the time. So I would not advise on getting a cat.

Seeing as you say she is there only a few days a week if you clean the place really well before she comes over it wont be to bad for her.

You might need to talk with a vet or something so they know exactly what cat would be okay with an allergie. But if you can’t get in contact with one, I’d say a breed with short fur and not very long/long fur.
