I have red spots covered in small bumps on my forehead, and on my left cheek due to having allergic reactions to my family’s cats. Are these rashes permanent? Will they go away if I isolate myself from cat fur, and don’t get much exposure to it anymore?
Some other symptoms I have are itchy ears, watery eyes, coughing/sneezing, and runny nose.

I grew up with 5 cats and never had allergy symptoms until I went away to college and came back and developed some rashes. After a few days , they disappeared. Now (at 33) I just got 2 new kittens and my allergies are real bad (runny nose, sneezing, eyes, etc.). Is it possible that with time, my allergies will go away or is this permanent? Hoping not the latter, but may be a reality that I need to face. I’ll prb. head to an allergist butr looking to see if anyone had firsthand experience about this? Thanks for your help! Doug

Does anybody have any recommendations on the best way to clean carpets that have been affected by cats? My fiancee is allergic to cats and we are buying a home from a cat owner. We want to have the place professionally cleaned but don’t know the best cleaning service to get for this matter. Any recommendations?

I’d had allergy shots back in the mid 80s and the shots eventually did help me to feel better and have less post nasal drips (though also didn’t have a cat at that time). We just adopted a sweet and adorable tabby but both my mom and I are experiencing an allergic response including itchy eyes and nose. If the allergy shots helped, how long did it take? Thank you for any information!

We’ve just moved into a house and the previous tenants had two cats (and a greyhound). We’ve shampooed the carpets and furniture and washed the curtains, but I’m still getting cat allergies. It just seems to be floating in the air and we can’t get rid of it. I can’t even sleep without antihistamines. Help!

I have a 4 month old daughter and I worry that she will be allergic to our cat. I was not raised around cats but have cat allergies. I tried to give the cat away during pregnancy but didn’t cause everyone told me it would be fine. Who’s right? If you raised your child from birth around your cat, what was the outcome? Did they have allergies? Thanks!
