Is it possible for a cat to have allergies?
Posted by: Alan in cat allergies treatment, tags: allergies, possible
My cat has been sneezing all day, poor guy. Is it possible that he’s got allergies? And yes– I have taken him to the vet about this (probably a year ago) but the vet didn’t think there was anything wrong with him. My cat stopped with the sneezing fits shortly after seeing the vet, but now he’s doing it again. Any ideas what it might be?
Thanks for the help. He’s strictly and indoor cat, and he’s been sickly his entire life, so I watch him like a hawk. Cowgirl– I didn’t even think about the dust from all my packing! I do have an indoor air purifier– I’ll turn it on ‘high’ to see if that helps him!

Yes, it is possible for cats to have allergies. the allergie would depend on whether it’s an indoor or indoor/ outdoor cat though.

Yes, cats do get allergies just like people do. He may have a fall allergin. Keep an eye on him though because the symptoms he is presenting can be something more serious that will require a vet. There are certain things you can do like an air purifier and vacuming and dusting a little more often to help keep his environment a little bit allergin free making him feel a little better. Good luck

Are you stirring up dust with the packing and all?
Or maybe he’s allergic to all that yak hair!

Absolutely. They sneeze just like us humans, and get skin rashes too.
As for what is causing the allergies, think about what may have changed in the environment lately. Is it a weather change? Seasonal change?
I happen to have the seasonal allergies myself. If the sneezing comes with the change in seasons, perhaps there is an environmental change that is causing it.

Yes. Infact, my female has horrible allergies, especially when there is more moisture in the air than she is used to.
